What drives our work
“To empower young people in Uganda—especially those facing disability and economic hardship—with education, skills, and opportunities that build resilient communities.”
Luteete Youth Foundation Uganda (LYF-Uganda) began its operations in 2023 as an informal group and became registered in 2024. It was started by a group of five like-minded youth with experiences in different sectors to promote youth capacity development and create opportunities for children, youth and people with disabilities.
LYF-Uganda is involved in youth professionalism, youth development, capacity building, health, education, research, environment and climate change, women empowerment, and social and economic advancement. The organisation has three full-time volunteers who assist in the day-to-day running of its programmes.
It was incorporated in 2024 at the Registrar of Companies and later registered as an NGO under the 2012 NGO Statute — Registration No: INDR171956710NB.
Our vision, mission and objectives guide every activity we render to youth aged 12–27 — both in and out of school.
“To empower young people in Uganda—especially those facing disability and economic hardship—with education, skills, and opportunities that build resilient communities.”
“A Uganda where every young person has the tools, dignity, and support to shape a sustainable future for themselves and their nation.”
Our programmes span education, health, skills development, research and community empowerment.
The organisation began as a Next-hope initiative locally known as Esuubi-Elidako, recognised by local council leaders for its tireless efforts to uplift the welfare of youth. Its first emphasis was on zonal and sub-county based activities across the community.
Early programmes included early childhood education, advocating for children's rights, education sponsorship, smart agriculture, vocational training in hair dressing & cosmetology, welding & fabrication, brick laying, poultry keeping, games and sports, piggery, apiary, carpentry and joinery for local youth.
Due to the growing desire to assist youth in other divisions, sub-divisions, counties and districts, LYF-Uganda was registered as an NGO in 2025 — coupled with a need to secure external donor assistance and expand our activities reach.
To contribute to the national orphans, youth and other vulnerable children strategic plan — achieving a comprehensive National Program Plan of Interventions (NPPI) and National Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children's Policy (NOP) that results in sustainable reduction in HIV/AIDS among young people, improved access to OVC care and support services, life planning skills and vocational education for job creation among out-of-school youth, and organised youth engagement in climate change and smart agriculture within communities.
The principal objectives of LYF-Uganda are organised around six pillars of community impact.
